The face is one of the most important attributes of female beauty – a symbol of attractiveness and desire. Many women are not completely happy with their face and today women who are unhappy with their face have many options which include Mini Face Lift.

The mini facelift provides all the answers.  While you may not be ready for a full face lift you still want to reverse and stave off the aging process but not look as if you’ve had “work done”

When contemplating either facelift or a mini-facelift surgery, it is important to consider the desired results.  If you are looking for a more subtle change, with only certain trouble areas addressed, the mini-facelift is likely the better option.  If, however, you are looking for a more dramatic change to your entire face and neck, a full traditional facelift may be the answer.

Whereas the goal of facelift surgery is to give the entire face and neck a younger and firmer look, mini-facelift surgery is used to target specific areas of concern.  A mini-facelift may be the more appropriate option for a younger surgical candidate and can be used in a more preventative manner, as the effects of aging first become visible.  Some may notice deeper lines forming from their nose to their mouth (nasolabial folds), while others may be concerned with sagging skin around the neck area.  Whatever the case may be, the surgeon can tailor the mini-facelift to the individual patients concerns.

Reasons for having Facelift surgery include

  • Not ready for traditional facelift

  • Don’t have recovery time

The best candidates for a mini facelift are those who have skin that is not overly lax, don’t have time for recovery time of traditional facelift, not ready for traditional facelift and signs of aging are related to a specific area.

The Procedure

The surgeon will make incisions in the temporal hair area and re extended downward in front of the ear to the earlobe.  An alternative incision is to place the incisions along the hairline rather than within the temporal hair.  There is also a small incision underneath the chin.  The surgeon will then reposition the underlying tissue by using a small canula and anaesthetic fluid thereby there is little cutting involved.  The excess skin in front of the ear is excised and the skin flap is re-draped.

  After Surgery and Recovery

The patient will wear a facelift dressing followed by 1 week of a chin strap bandage which the patient will continue to wear  at night for about a week.  Sutures will be removed after 6-7 days.

After surgery the recovery period is very quick compared to a standard facelift as there is less work to be done..  The patient should be up and about in a day or two but should plan on taking it easy for the first week after surgery.  At the beginning the patients face may look and feel rather strange.  The features may be a little swollen and facial movements may be slightly stiff.  Some bruising may persist for 2 or 3 weeks but by the third week will look and feel much better.  Most patients are back at work about 5-7 days after surgery.  The patient should avoid strenuous activity including sex and heavy housework for at least 2 weeks.  The patient should get plenty of rest and allow the body to spend its energy on healing.  Make up may be worn after 1 week.

Having a short-scar facelift doesn’t stop the clock.  Your face will continue to age with time, in another sense, the effects of even one facelift are lasting – years later you will continue to look better.  You will find that the loose skin will be reduced giving the face a much softer, refreshed and younger look.

The results are permanent and you will always look better for having a facelift however the aging process continues and nothing can stop aging.  In five to ten years time you may need another as the jawline starts to sag again.  Lifts do nothing for lines and skin texture so possibly a peel or microdermabrasion can improve the quality of the skin.

If you are looking for a procedure to give you a smooth healthy and more youthful appearance then a Mini Face Lift is the answer.
